Looking for a nice bowl for your yogurt, nuts or just for decoration? How about these 2 coconut bowls?
In Sri Lanka, coconuts are used for all sorts of things. You see these bowls in many kitchens, but also in restaurants. (did you know that you can do the dishes with the 'hair' of the coconut!?)
You can use the bowls for your breakfast, for a smoothie, or to serve nuts with drinks. (And oh yes, it can also turn into a mess 😉 ). The coconut wood is very light and sturdy, so these beautiful, decorative trays can take a beating.
The bowls are a Friendly Product. They are made by young people in Sri Lanka with disabilities. Their teacher, Chaminda, helped them with that. These young people participate in the Friendship Foundation program.
Our students enjoy learning different subjects. They can perform some subjects independently, but they do need some help with the 2 coconut bowls. Chaminda is their teacher in the carpentry workshop and patiently helps them.
The students also make spoons, Ithil Pahan (small oil lamps), and other items that we sell. It's nice to see how proud they are of their work and the fact that it is sold from the 'distant' Holland.
